Employee blog post stirs rumors of possible Microsoft layoffs

For weeks, we've been hearing rumblings of possible layoffs at Microsoft. Now Mini-Microsoft, the anonymous Microsoft employee blogger, is weighing in on the "Microsoft layoff and cut-backs and Reduction In Force rumors."

"Bad news on the rise and with perhaps January 15th 2009 as an interesting day for Microsoft news. Bad news," Mini-Microsoft writes. "15 Jan is a week before FY09Q2 quarterly results and it's better to share as much news, good and bad, before the results are released vs. surprising Wall Street (something I think we've learned)."

Given Mini-Microsoft's large following at Microsoft, his comments are bound to feed the layoff speculation. We'll be watching his blog for updates. A Microsoft spokesman declined to comment.

People always hate to talk about when they are laid off. But as it has become every day's news headline since Yahoo started it with cutting 1500 of its task force last year, now a need of platform has been in demand where people can express their selves in words how they are feeling about their company, whey the got laid off was that justified or not.

Microsoft's lack of new products is leading to layoffs. Even Domino's is very smart to go after a new market with new products in this tough economy by launching sub sandwiches. Growth requires going after new markets with new growth opportunities. Great companies focus on growth while weaker competitors try saving costs. IDC say thats less than 1 percent! oh yea it doubled from .4 percent.

Granted this is desktop not server but come on that like saying vegetable oil powered cars are threatening Detroit.

I dont hate or dislike Linux but its not the killer app that crushes the paid for software world as you would suggest

Everyone is expecting recession getting over soon. I have a very close friend, who graduated from Harvard. Worked for ML for over 8 years, recently he’s been “right sized” too, despite of his outstanding performance and the increasing revenue he generated. OMG, now the banking industry is badly hurt, how long it would take for those financial background guys like him get back to the job market. Banking jobs are not there as much as before as easily seen on http://www.joboutlets.com and other job sites in the region
