Oprah Winfrey is poised to give Amazon.com's Kindle a huge boost.
The iconic talk show host is calling the electronic book reader her "favorite new gadget"
in a show to air Friday.
Amazon isn't wasting any time capitalizing on the Oprah effect. The online retailer's home page has a promotional teaser from the show front and center on its home page.
Oprah's plugs have had a well-documented effect on sales of books and other items that she highlights on her show.
The first version of Kindle, which launched in Nov. 2007, is coming up on its one-year anniversary.
Amazon has been tight-lipped about Kindle sales, but clearly an Oprah endorsement could be a huge sales driver for the device, particularly ahead of the holiday season.
