Is your Internet connection at home or work feeling a little clunky? Comcast today announced that it will roll out a new Internet service package next month called Extreme 50 with download speeds of as much as 50 Megabits per second. That means Comcast customers could download a 6 GB high-def movie in about 16 minutes.
If that's a little too much Internet horsepower, the state's largest cable company also is offering a product called Ultra that is a 22 Mbps downstream speed. The high-speed Internet comes at a price, with residential customers who subscribe to Comcast cable paying $139.95 per month for Extreme 50 and $62.95 for Ultra.
If that's a little too pricey, Comcast also said it is doubling the Internet connection speeds for many of its existing "performance tier" cable Internet subscribers to 12 Mbps (downstream) and 2 Mbps (upstream).
