As the news slows down a bit for the holiday week, we’ve finally been able to take a few deep breaths.
A little more than a month ago, we launched TechFlash, and our lives haven’t been the same since. We’re working harder than we’ve ever worked. And in case it’s not obvious, we’re having a ton of fun.
We've been busy over the past five weeks -- writing more than 300 posts on a range of Seattle-area technology companies, personalities and issues. (Some of our favorites so far include stories about the unusual connection between Microsoft and Intellectual Ventures, the Entellium fraud case, and Amazon's mysterious advertising startup Adzinia.)
It's great to have so many of you joining us, and to see more and more people interacting in the comments and offering guest posts.
Other pieces of the vision are also coming together. Major props to our first advertisers, SolutionsIQ and Peterson Sullivan, for jumping on board. Over in the right rail, you’ll find our new Seattle Tech Job Board. Responding to several reader requests, we recently launched a new mobile version of the site at www.techflash.com/mobile. (A big thanks to developer Matt Steninger and designer Jeff Jackson, the key behind-the-scenes members of the TechFlash team, for all their work.)
Look for enhancements to our daily e-mail newsletter in the coming weeks. And you’ll soon be hearing about plans for our quarterly and annual events. (Big shout-out to the Business Journal's advertising, classifieds, marketing and events teams for taking on TechFlash.)
As with any new site, we’ve experienced rough patches. In particular, it has taken time to iron out kinks in the RSS feeds and the commenting system. The outage experienced by our content management service Friday was painful -- particularly since we had just posted our fun scoop about Paul Allen’s secret MySpace page. More importantly, we know the inability to access the site was annoying to many of you.
We appreciate you hanging in there through our beta, and we plan to continue rewarding your loyalty with the best journalism we can produce.
Beyond that, you’ll see the site steadily improve in the coming weeks and months as we add more polish and features. Many elements of the vision have waited in the wings as we’ve implemented the basics. We’re looking forward to showing you more of what we have in mind.
Most of all, we'd like to know what you want the site to become. Please e-mail us with your ideas, suggestions and tips, or post a comment below.
Thanks for joining us on this adventure. We’re planning to make it worth your while to stick around.
