It has been a bad week for tech workers at Seattle companies -- a very bad week. We've tabulated more than 300 cuts at 10 companies, ranging from biotechs such as Targeted Genetics to established Internet companies like RealNetworks. First, the bad news. It appears that more carnage is coming. (We are still tracking down a number of tips.)
But as I noted on KUOW this week, the Seattle area has not been hit as hard as some regions since the anchors of the tech industry here (Amazon.com, Google and Microsoft) have not instituted cutbacks. And look on the bright side. At least you don't live in Detroit. Here's a follow up on the layoff list I put together earlier this week. As you can tell, it continues to grow.
