Amazon.com has already sold out of its Kindle electronic book reader for the holidays, which means the $359 device is now selling for as much as $975 on eBay and Amazon auction sites, according to TechCrunch. Interestingly, despite the fact that it will take 11 to 13 weeks to get a Kindle, Amazon is still prominently displaying the device on its home page this "Cyber Monday."
Earth Class Mail is going to Hollywood. The Seattle company today opened a facility in Tinseltown, prompting a funny blog post from the LA Times which says the online postal mail startup is perfect for jet-setters and jet-setter wannabes who can't keep track of mail between homes in "Malibu, Aspen, Paris and Timbuktu." Earth Class Mail is targeting on-the-go members of the entertainment industry, noting in the press release that the service gives film crews, actors and other the ability to read their mail online while working on location.
Amazon.com today completed its acquisition of AbeBooks, the 12-year-old Victoria, B.C.-based online marketplace for used and rare books. AbeBooks was a part owner in LibraryThing, the social network for book lovers that competed with Shelfari. Shelfari was purchased by Amazon earlier this year.

Christopher Ma, a 35-year-old Seattle man, is facing up to five years in prison after pleading guilty in federal court for making false statements while working in a business development role at Auburn-based Syntrix Biochip. Ma created a fraudulent audit and company that was used to receive funds from the National Institutes of Health.
Amazon.com moves its SimpleDB Web service out of beta.
