Over the last couple weeks, we've reported on a steady stream of companies releasing free iPhone applications.
Now outdoor gear company REI is getting in on the action.
The Seattle based retailer has teamed with local mobile software company Zumobi to launch the REI Snow Report, an application for iPhone, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile that gives users instant information on ski conditions at resorts in the U.S. and Canada.
The application lets users "quickly select a slope and access information, including temperature; new, top and base snow depth; snow conditions; and number of open lifts," according to a press release by the two companies.
It adds: "Each listing includes one-touch access to the resort’s contact information, as well as live Webcam images where available."
Zumobi has been busy lately. My colleague John Cook reported recently another iPhone app released by the company that lets users tap into a constant stream of content from Flickr, Twitter, Facebook, and other sources.
