Zillow at top of Seattle startup list as Smilebox keeps on rising |

Marcelo Calbucci has released the latest version of the Seattle Startup Index, noting that he had a few technical glitches that held up the process. But nonetheless, Calbucci's list of startups still shows online real estate startup Zillow.com in the lead over Blue Kai (a surprising entrant in the top 10 that Calbucci explains here). They were followed by Smilebox, iLike, Picnik, Pet Holdings and Wetpaint. In fact, Smilebox -- Andrew Wright's online greeting card startup -- jumped four slots to third place in part driven by the holiday season.
As we've mentioned before, Calbucci's Index (which is based on Compete.com and Alexa rankings) is more of a fun exercise than a serious look at the business operations of these companies. After all, the most important numbers for these Internet upstarts is revenue growth and profits.
