Scott Moore.
This whole Microsoft-Yahoo executive exchange is starting to get a little weird. Microsoft this morning confirmed that Scott Moore, most recently the head of Yahoo's media business, will become U.S. executive producer of Microsoft's MSN business, responsible for its content and programming strategy. It's a homecoming for Moore, who was at Microsoft from 1995 to 2005.
Kara Swisher reported the news over the weekend, noting the irony that Moore was previously replaced at Yahoo by Jeff Dossett, who once held the Microsoft position that Moore is now taking. In other words, the two effectively switched jobs, and they'll now be competing against each other from opposite sides of the fence.
Moore will join Microsoft in mid-March, reporting to Greg Nelson, general manager of MSN’s global media group, the company said in an email this morning. During his earlier stint at the company, his positions included MSNBC.com president and Slate.com publisher.
Microsoft in recent months has hired a number of former Yahoo employees and executives, most notably Qi Lu, the former Yahoo engineer who's now president of Microsoft's Online Services Business. Yahoo, in turn, has hired a number of former Microsofties, including former MSN and Microsoft advertising executive Joanne Bradford.
