DevHub's new Web site builder
Want to build a Web site, but don't have the programming skills? A new Seattle startup called DevHub is launching a free Web site publishing platform today, promising that non-technical users can build a Web site in minutes. DevHub, the latest offering from Evo Media Group, has raised less than $1 million in angel financing. Other Web site platforms exist, including offerings from Redmond-based Sampa as well as blogging tools such as Wordpress.
DevHub said that more than 55,000 sites have already been developed during the beta period, which has led to affiliate partnership deals with Careerbuilder, Superpages, Shopping.com and other sites. The DevHub network of sites are tied into the content and affiliate programs of those sites, allowing the small niche sites to benefit from those relationships. For example, a niche publication could feature jobs from CareerBuilder or products from Shopping.com
"This differentiates us from current blogging/online site builders, which are either too limiting in their features or takes a lot more elbow grease to set up and create a site, find valid revenue streams, and then track everything," the company writes. "With DevHub, all this is done in one centralized platform."
In some ways, the concept is similar to the advertising widgets developed by Seattle's WidgetBucks.
DevHub's leadership team includes Geoffrey Allen Bautista Nuval, Daniel Lee Rust and Mark Michael, part of the team behind Down2Night.com, BuyersVine.com and SynapseLife.com.
