At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this morning, Microsoft showed the new Windows Mobile 6.5, expected to start shipping on new phones in the second half of this year. (See this earlier post for a rundown of the company's news.)
Here's a glimpse of the upcoming operating system, starting with the opening "lock screen" (above) which provides basic information about text and voice messages received since the phone was last used.

This "honeycomb" style applications menu will be accessible via the Start button. It's separate from the main home screen in the new operating system.

The new Internet Explorer on Windows Mobile is meant to more closely resemble browsing on a computer, using Adobe Flash Lite and other technologies.
