Amazon's Jeff Bezos on Twitter? |

Is Jeff Bezos using Twitter? That's hard to say. But there's clearly an interest out there in following the Amazon.com founder on the popular microblogging service. A new Twitter account called “jeffbezos” posted a single update -- “this is a test” -- about two weeks ago, and even though it hasn’t been active since, it's attracted nearly 30 followers (including me, just in case it's the real Jeff Bezos).
Bezos was an early investor in Twitter, which just raised a new $35 million venture funding round, so he may have an interest in test-driving the service. Then again, it's possible he doesn't use Twitter at all, or uses it under a pseudonym. Or it could be a fake "jeffbezos" (Twitter is home to a number of celebrity imposters). I contacted Amazon about whether Bezos uses Twitter, but haven't hard back yet.
Among those following "jeffbezos" on Twitter is Tom Alberg of Madrona Venture Group, an Amazon board member and an early investor in the company. The "jeffbezos" account is itself following Amazon's web services evangelist Jeff Barr, former vice president Al Gore, the New York Times, and Evan Williams, CEO of Twitter.
Amazon as a whole isn't new to using Twitter. The company has set up various accounts to let people track its deals and other services. And several Amazonians, including Barr and Chief Technology Officer Werner Vogels, are active users of Twitter. Barr last week did a Twitter demo for some of his colleagues.
