Yesterday, after reporting on Ontela's funding round, an anonymous commenter on TechFlash asked if the Seattle startup had hired a new chief financial officer. Turns out, they have.
Tom Munro has joined Ontela as chief financial officer, with CEO Dan Shapiro saying in an email that "we're really lucky to have him." Munro most recently served as the CFO of Vallent, which grew to $70 million in annual revenues before being sold to IBM. Before that, Munro worked as CFO at Donnelly Enterprise Solutions and Quotesmith.
"He’s not only good at 'the CFO thing,' he’s a veteran executive with perspective on both startup and public companies ... something that, as a first time CEO, I really benefit from," noted Shapiro.
Ontela, which has developed mobile software to move photos between camera phone and personal computers, announced a venture investment Monday from the venture arm of Swedish telecom giant Ericcson. Other investors include Oak Investment Partners, Voyager Capital and Steamboat Ventures.
