Anytime I see the words "corporate reorganization" I immediately think layoffs. And that was the case this morning when I came across a release from Vertafore, one of the Seattle area's largest software companies. The maker of software products for the insurance industry announced efforts to reorganize around three units: Vertafore Agency Markets, Vertafore Carrier & MGA Markets and Sircon.
But no jobs are being cut at the company, which employs more than 1,100 workers. In fact, the Bothell company lists 25 job openings on its Web site.
The reorganization is part of a plan to align certain products with key markets, with the Agency Markets unit focusing on insurance agents and brokers while the Carrier and MGA unit is now catering to insurance carriers, finance companies and others. The Bothell company's Sircon unit will continue to sell products for the government market, as well as for compliance and licensing.
As part of the reorganization, Vertafore has named Bill Bunker as president of Agency Markets and Matt McKernan as president of the Carrier and MGA Markets team. Don Elias, who previously ran that group, is leaving the company next month.
In addition, Vertafore has named Susanna Morgan as senior vice president of product strategy and marketing. And Vance Huntley is now serving as senior vice president and chief technology officer.
