Dan Vetras
Visible Technologies is adding some firepower to its management team, announcing today that technology executive Dan Vetras has joined as chief executive. Vetras, who previously served as CEO of Talisma and Captura Software, replaces Adam Selig who is becoming divisional president of strategic alliances. The Seattle company, which helps corporations track and participate in discussions on social networking sites and blogs, also recently named Peter Price as chief financial officer.
Vetras and Price both have a lot of experience selling companies. Last year, Vetras sold Bellevue-based Talisma to nGenera, while Price was part of the management team that sold Pure Networks to Cisco for $120 million. Before that Vetras sold Bothell-based Captura to Concur in 2002. Price previously served as chief financial officer at PacketVideo and PacketEngines.
That track record got me wondering if Visible was on the auction block, but vice president of marketing Blake Cahill says that's not the case. "We have solid growth and momentum and having a CEO like Dan will help us scale," he said.
In a statement, Selig said the new role will allow him to be closer to his family, while Vetras said he will be charged with growing the company's client base with large Fortune 500 companies.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to join the team at Visible Technologies," said Vetras. "They clearly grasp how important it is to glean business insight from social data and provide enterprises with actionable intelligence to transform the customer experience and marketing initiatives to grow their businesses."
Visible, which competes against San Francisco-based BuzzLogic and newly-launched Seattle startup Meteor, raised $12 million from Ignition Partners and WPP in late 2007. Total funding stands at $15.5 million.
