Publishers Weekly looks at how some publishers are experimenting with putting comic books on Amazon.com's new Kindle 2 electronic book reader, and notes the complexities of transferring graphic images to the Kindle format.
Comcast will launch broadband mobile Internet service in Portland in conjunction with Clearwire this summer. The Oregonian reports that the state's largest cable company will buy the service from Kirkland-based Clearwire and then resell it under the Comcast brand. Comcast has invested $1 billion in Clearwire, with COO Steve Burke addressing that investment in an interview with TechFlash last week.
1Cast, which like Clearwire is backed by telecommunications billionaire Craig McCaw, today announced that CNBC, The Wall Street Journal Digital Network, Reuters, AFP and others are using the 1Cast service to distribute daily video news content. More on the Kirkland startup here.
The Electronic Privacy Information Center wants the Federal Trade Commission to investigate the security of Gmail, Google Docs and other Web services offered by Google, according to The New York Times.
