Online travel giant Expedia says it cut a handful of positions yesterday in its customers operations group. It's the latest round of layoffs for the Bellevue company, which let go an undisclosed number of employees in February as part of a global restructuring. Expedia has seen its stock decline sharply over the past year -- leading to chatter that it's a potential acquisition target for Google.
Expedia spokeswoman Katie Deines would not confirm the number of layoffs yesterday but described it as a "small number," adding, "As always, we are providing resources to assist those employees who were impacted by the changes to aid them in their search for new employment." She said the company has roughly 1,600 employees in Bellevue.
