Sam Ruby
Say this for Sam Ruby: He takes this transparency stuff seriously. The well-known open-source developer and longtime IBM employee disclosed on his blog today that he expects to "receive a credible offer from Microsoft in the next two weeks."
Of course, announcing a potential job offer is unusual, to say the least. When people pointed that out in the comments on his post, Ruby responded by explaining that he wanted to maintain a level of openness and trust in the open-source community, and get feedback from others as he weighs the potential job offer -- assuming he still gets it.
"For me to succeed at the job I am interested in, I would need to be able to retain the majority of the reputation I have built up over the years (despite it being freaking Microsoft we are talking about here!)," he wrote. "Based on the feedback I’ve seen so far (both here and elsewhere), I am more confident about that than I was this morning."
