Engadget has an amusing interview with Tom Glynn, the man behind the robotic voice on Kindle 2's text-to-speech feature. The Boston-based Glynn, who does voice work to support his rock music career, said he doesn't own a Kindle 2 yet, but says it might be "kinda weird hearing me read to myself." The Kindle 2's text-to-speech function has sparked controversy over copyright issues.
A report says that Firefox had more than four times as many flaws as Internet Explorer, but also notes that problems with the open source browser are fixed faster than Microsoft's IE. Firefox had 115 flaws, compared to 31 from IE, according to the report from Secunia.
Bloomberg reports that Reader's Digest Association has hired a law firm to explore restructuring options including a possible bankruptcy filing. Reader's Digest owns Seattle's Allrecipes.com, one of the web's most popular cooking sites.
Avvo, the Seattle online legal directory, has launched service in eight new states.
Adaptive Engineering, a Boston enterprise software company, has set up offices in Seattle in order to better service customers and partners such as Adobe, T-Mobile and Convergys. The new office -- with five staffers and plans to grow -- will focus on business development.
