Amazon.com is advancing its mobile strategy. The online retailer launched a free shopping application for BlackBerry -- following up on its release of an iPhone shopping app last December. The new app, designed only for BlackBerrys with a trackball, includes the feature "Amazon Remembers," which lets users snap pictures of products and submit them to Amazon, which tries to match the photos with products on its site.
Amazon has been talking about expanding into other mobile devices for some time, so the BlackBerry announcement isn't a huge surprise. Amazon also released a free Kindle application for the iPhone earlier this year, and it will be interesting to see if the company releases Kindle apps for BlackBerry and other gadgets.
