Two of Seattle's fastest growing Internet startups have inked a partnership. Picnik today said it will provide its online photo editing tools to users of Wetpaint, the heavily-funded wiki platform that is attracting more than eight million visitors per month.
By clicking the edit photo button on Wetpaint, users will be able to crop images, make collages and add new fonts and effects. Picnik -- with more than 30 million visits per month -- also has deals with Flickr, Facebook, PhotoBucket and others.
Wetpaint and Picnik have taken different paths. Picnik has built its business without venture capital, while Wetpaint landed a massive $25 million round from Accel Partners, DAG Ventures and others last year.
Interestingly, both companies recently competed for the WTIA's consumer product of the year award. Wetpaint won, but I wonder if founder Ben Elowitz used the award ceremony at the Paramount to seal the deal with Picnik.
