Amazon tweaks Kindle store for iPhone, iPod touch users |

Despite Amazon.com's aggressive rollout of Kindle devices, the company is also steadily cultivating the iPhone and other mobile devices as an outlet for its digital content. The company today announced it has optimized the Kindle online store for Apple's iPhone and iPod touch. It's latest example of Amazon's twin-track approach of selling pricey readers while also ensuring that its electronic books, newspapers and other content get established on a range of popular mobile devices.
Now when users of Amazon's Kindle iPhone app click Get Books, they'll get a display "tailored for the size and shape" of iPhone and iPod touch screens. But as a number of blogs have pointed out, when users click on an item they're taken out of the Kindle app and into Safari web browser to do browsing and purchasing, which takes away some of the convenience factor.
Amazon recently acquired Lexcycle, maker of the popular Stanza e-book app for the iPhone, so there may be changes in store for its Kindle mobile strategy.
