Former Twitter, Microsoft execs create new startup: Digiting |

Bruce Jaffe, the former acquisitions chief at Microsoft, and Lee Mighdoll, the former vice president of engineering and operations at Twitter, have emerged as the top executive officers of a Seattle area company by the name of Digiting, TechFlash has learned.
It is unclear what Jaffe and Mighdoll are building, but the two technology executives certainly are worth watching.
Jaffe served as vice president for corporate development at Microsoft, orchestrating deals such as the $6 billion buyout of online advertising giant aQuantive.
Mighdoll, meanwhile, lasted just three months in his head engineering role at Twitter. His departure last month caused quite a stir when he suddenly left the popular microblogging site.
Before Twitter, Mighdoll worked at ObjectSpeed, Microsoft, WebTV and Apple.
Jaffe and Mighdoll were both named in SEC and state of Washington filings as officers of Digiting. The SEC filing -- dated May 8 -- indicates that the company has raised $225,000. It says the company could raise $75,000 more as part of the offering, which was listed as debt financing.
According to the Washington state document, Digiting was incorporated on Feb. 26.
There's been speculation that Jaffe was looking to create a new startup company as well as recent rumors that he was being considered for CFO post at Yahoo.
But while there's been talk of Jaffe joining the startup ranks since he left Microsoft 15 months ago, this is the first real evidence we've seen of his next move.
Jaffe spent 12 years at Microsoft overseeing a number of strategic acquisitions. He also previously served as chief financial officer at MSN, assisting with its transition to an online advertising business.
We have an email and call into Jaffe to find out more about Digiting. And we'll update this post as more details emerge.
UPDATE: I chatted with Jaffe this afternoon, who was reluctant to share many details about the new startup or the space it is operating in. However, he did say that Digiting plans to launch its first product this summer. At this point, the company consists of Jaffe -- who is serving as CEO -- and Mighdoll -- CTO.
They met while at Microsoft several years ago, with the two executives reconnecting this summer to kick around new business ideas. Recently, Jaffe said the business concept "gelled."
"We are working hard to get the product right, and we are looking forward to releasing that and getting user feedback," he said. "We are excited, and we think it is very big. And we think it addresses a huge consumer need."
He declined to say what that consumer need is, though it is not in the communications or messaging arena a la Twitter. Jaffe has some experience at startups, previously serving as chief operating officer of de' Medici Systems.
"I am excited to work with Lee to build a startup of our own," he said.
