Seattle ranks fifth in report of nation's top high-tech cities |

For the longest time around these parts, industry watchers have talked about building Seattle into a strong number two to Silicon Valley, which has deservedly obtained the reputation as the nation's top spot for tech. Well, according to a report today from bizjournals' G. Scott Thomas, Seattle has a little ways to go.
The Emerald City ranked fifth, just behind San Francisco-Oakland and just ahead of San Diego.
San Jose, Washington D.C. and Boston held the top three spots, respectively. You can check out the methodology -- which included a measurement of tech jobs, the ratio of high-tech jobs per 1,000 private sector jobs and other factors -- here.

Interestingly, Stockton, Calif., ranked last. And Portland ranked 31st just behind Houston.
