BuddyTV: One of the top 5 fastest growing U.S. Internet sites |
Register here for our next TechFlash Live networking event, March 23, featuring an expert panel discussing the future of online advertising.
BuddyTV, the Seattle online TV gossip site and community, was among the fastest growing Internet sites in the U.S. during the month of May.
According to a report from comScore Media Metrix, BuddyTV more than doubled its visitor count in May to 6.5 million uniques. That meant the company -- which benefited from discussions around popular TV shows such as "So You Think You Can Dance?" and "American Idol" -- ranked fourth behind ProFlowers.com, Oprah.com and Yum Brands.
No wonder the company -- backed by Madrona Venture Group, Charles River and others -- has turned down buyout offers in the past.
ComScore also noted that Google remains the most visited Web property, with 157 million visitors in May. Yahoo had 151 million visitors and Microsoft sites attracted 126 million. UPDATE: Sorry, forgot to mention that Amazon.com ranked 10th with 63 million unique visistors -- behind eBay, Facebook and Wikipedia.
