If you're on Twitter but aren't too sure who to follow, a new service from the folks at Seattle 2.0 could serve as a helpful resource. The new Twitter Directory ranks the top "Twitterers" in the Seattle tech startup community and assigns a score to each based on the number of followers from the community who are tracking that person's tweets.
For example, the score for my Twitter account stands at 73.9 because I have 115 people from the directory -- including 57 entrepreneurs -- following me.
The tool could be helpful for finding new folks on Twitter. (For example, I realized I wasn't tracking Kelly Smith of Curious Office Partners or Brady Forest of Ignite, so I added them to my feed.)
I asked creator Marcelo Calbucci if he planned to add a feed of everyone's Tweets, but he worried there will be too much to track and therefore "won't add any value."
"My motivation was discovery of entrepreneurs/investors on Twitter," he said. "Basically, every few weeks I go through several people follow list to see who else I know that I'm not following. Twitter is not as good as Facebook to tell you some friend just joined Twitter. With something like this (if it takes off) I can easily find who are the Founders I'm not following, etc."
Calbucci -- who also runs the Seattle Startup Index -- said they have set up an automated "follow-friday" where people can easily find new people to track.
