Amazon.com is planning to hold its first-ever Second Life job fair, holding interviews with prospective employees in the 3-D virtual world developed by Linden Lab. The July 14 event will give job candidates "direct access to hiring managers and recruiters from around the world," Amazon web services evangelist Jeff Barr said in a blog post.
Amazon is seeking everything from "hands-on engineers to program managers and game-changing principal architects," writes Barr (avatar name: Jeffronius Batra), who adds that the company will give away "cool virtual goods including Amazon.com T-Shirts, Door Desks, and a high-performance aircraft."
Amazon has various ties to Second Life. As Barr notes, the Second Life client is served up from Amazon's S3 cloud storage service. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is an investor in Linden Lab, the developer of Second Life, through his personal investment vehicle Bezos Expeditions.
