Jott's Pollard on Nuance deal: 'It was a great deal for everybody' |

John Pollard
Jott Chief Executive John Pollard said he will be staying on board at Nuance Communications as general manager of voice-to-text at the Burlington, Mass.-based company, and most of the Seattle startup's employees will make the transition as well.
The Jott unit will remain in the Seattle area, though the company is expected to combine offices with Nuance's SnapIn Software group. (Nuance acquired Bellevue-based SnapIn last year for $180 million in stock.)
In a voice mail left with TechFlash before heading off to vacation, Pollard didn't offer details on the purchase price. But the former Expedia and Microsoft manager did express enthusiasm for his new corporate parent.
"Net, net it was a great deal for everybody," said Pollard. "This is a super, super thing and it is a really, really great fit in general."
Ending some speculation in the comments of TechFlash, Pollard also said he's "super psyched" about sticking around at Nuance.
TechFlash reported yesterday that Jott had been acquired by Nuance, a natural fit since the company specializes in speech recognition technology.
Jott has developed a way to transcribe voice messages into text, allowing sales professionals or other workers to easily take notes while on the go. It raised about $7 million from Draper Richards, Bain Capital, Ackerley Partners and others.
