Here's the moment you've all been waiting for. Last night at Teddy's Tavern, we picked the 48-person bracket for the 1st Annual TechFlash Ping Pong Tournament. It was exciting times as players waited with nervous anticipation to learn their fate.
Click on the image above or go here for a printable PDF. Based on what we saw last night from some folks who showed up to practice their spins and serves, there's going to be some heated competition at the big July 23rd event at the Georgetown Ballroom.
We've already got our eyes on some key matchups in the early rounds, plus one "Group of Death" on the left side of the bracket where Microsoft south paw Aran Dahl, Silicon Valley Bank spinmeister Mihn Le and PR/pong guru Rob Nachbar all will be in contention.
We're also interested to see what Concur president Rajeev Singh brings to the table, who'll face a key first round matchup versus The Seminar Group's Christopher Terp. Venture capitalist Jon Staenberg -- who strutted his skills last night at Teddy's -- also could be a contender if he can get by either Big Fish Games' Glenn Walcott or WhitePages CEO Alex Algard in the second round.
On the right side of the bracket, anything can happen. But after seeing the competitive fire last night of Madrona's Greg Gottesman (he beat yours truly and stole a match from Minh Le) the Seattle VC has got to be on the short list of contenders. (Rumor has it Gottesman once won a Stanford dorm tournament.)
Gottesman, however, could face a critical second round matchup versus Concur's Dinesh Thomas. Findwell's Shannon Ressler and TeachStreet's Joseph Sunga also represent a compelling first round match-up.
Who do you think will take home the crown? Well, it's time to fill out your bracket and let the official trash talking begin.
We still have slots available for the BBQ, but it is expected to sell out, so make sure you sign up today. This is one event -- and spectacle -- you won't want to miss. (Tournament note: Pong players should read this post again which explains rules, times, parking and other details.)
Thanks to our sponsors for making the TechFlash Summer BBQ & Ping Pong tourney happen. Bing, our presenting sponsor, is lining up some greats prizes and special features for the afternoon and early evening activities.
Other sponsors include: Solutions IQ; Seattle University's Master of Software Engineering program and Microsoft BizSpark. Our ping pong bracket sponsor is the Washington Technology Industry Association.
Pong on!!!

Greg Gottesman and Minh Le show off their pong skills at Teddy's. Could we see them in the final on July 23rd in Georgetown?
