Amazon MP3 crosses million follower mark on Twitter
Ever since various Amazon.com business units started using Twitter, one account has soared above the others. Amazon MP3, which sends out a steady stream of tweets on digital music deals (including free downloads), has accumulated a large following. Amazon MP3 recently reached the million-follower mark on Twitter, and shows no signs of slowing down.
In terms of followers, Amazon MP3 dwarfs the other Amazon accounts on Twitter, including amazondeals and amazongames. Will Amazon be doing more to leverage the popular microblogging service in the future? Amazon is in the process of acquiring online shoe retailer Zappos, which is active user of Twitter and other social media to build brand and create a dialogue with customers (Zappos chief executive Tony Hsieh has more than a million Twitter followers of his own).
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is a big admirer of the way Zappos does business. Perhaps we'll see Bezos and other Amazon executives doing more with Twitter in the future (Bezos was an early personal investor in Twitter, but apparently hasn't used it much).
