Blue Box Group, a 6-year-old Tacoma company that provides Ruby on Rails hosting services, has acquired the Rails Boxcar service from Portland-based Planet Argon in a deal of undisclosed size.
As part of the deal, Blue Box plans to take on more than 50 of the Boxcar customers. Blue Box's hosting services -- which include shared, virtul and dedicated servers -- range in price from $9.99 to $600 per month.
Blue Box founder Jesse Proudman said in a statement:
"I feel this deal [between Planet Argon and Blue Box Group] signifies the collaboration of two great businesses. Our companies have a lot in common - first and foremost our commitment to providing innovative and custom solutions to our customer base. With this acquisition, each of our companies will raise the level of service we provide to those we serve. We are honored that Planet Argon has chosen us to support their 'Rails Boxcar' and its users."
