A few weeks ago we told you about Coca-Cola's soda "fountain of the future," which allows consumers to choose from over 100 varieties of teas, juices and soft drinks and even make unusual combinations such as Fanta Peach and Raspberry Coke.
The connection at the time was that Bellevue-based Bsquare developed the soda fountain's user interface. But it turns out that another Seattle company is involved in the development of Coca-Cola's Freestyle device.
RFID chips from Impinj are being used in the device to monitor, track and maintain the dispenser operations, as well as provide analytics on what people are drinking.
As you can tell from this video, some consumers are pretty excited about the possibilities of mixing up drink concoctions such as Orange Diet Coke.
And here's Bsquare's video, which offers a little more detail on the technical aspects.
