Back in April of this year, we stopped people at random outside the Seattle Public Library, as a test to see if we could find anyone who knew the name of Microsoft's search engine, then called Live Search. By the end, we were literally searching to find someone who had heard of it. But we couldn't.
Fast forward five months. What effect would Microsoft's big Bing launch have on our experiment? Watch the video above to see what happened yesterday when we returned to the same place and tried the same thing. Of course, none of this is scientific, but it's an interesting exercise that provides a sense for the impact of all those marketing dollars, or lack of impact, in some cases.
