A game is lifted through a window into the new Power Play facility in Bellevue.
A $4 million center opening in Bellevue this week will challenge people with some of the newest video games on the market. But first the managers had to get around a challenge of their own -- resorting to lifting some of the games through a second-floor window when the Lincoln Square freight elevator proved too small.
It's the first "Power Play" gaming center, a new concept developed by Steven and Gillian Foster, owners of the national Lucky Strike Lanes & Lounge chain, which has an existing location in the same Bellevue building. The 18,000-square-foot center will include big and immersive games, making a bid to get people off the couch. That's no small task, especially in a region home to two of the big three console makers.
"We're trying to make it an experience they can’t have anywhere else," said Jim Bennington, gaming and redemption manager for the facility. "It’s not a gaming experience you can recreate in the home."
Sorry, old-timers, that means classic arcade video games such as Pac-Man and Frogger aren't on the menu, at least not at first. Via the Power Play organizers, read on for a list of some of the games to be offered.

Laser Chamber - Race against the clock while trying to navigate through the room without breaking the beams. Adjusts to desired ability (12, 18, or 48 lasers); friends can watch from closed circuit cameras.
Sega Harley Road King: a follow up to L.A. Riders, a full-scale Harley-Davidson simulator, where players race other riders through city settings, collecting symbols as they cruise their way to victory.
