A firestorm erupted last week after Internet provocateur Jason Calcanis ripped angel investment groups which charge entrepreneurs to present, with Keiretsu Forum taking the brunt of the attack. Now, Keiretsu's founder and CEO tells PEHub.com that the organization is directing chapters to drop fees on early-stage companies that have no revenue and are seeking less than $500,000 in capital.
Keiretsu's Randy Williams tells PEHub that the changes were already in the works before Calcanis' blistering attack, noting that the organization was looking at ways to make the angel group more accessible to all kinds of entrepreneurs.
Keiretsu will continue to charge later-stage entrepreneurs. And as we reported in our survey of angel investment groups last week, the Northwest chapter of the Keiretsu Forum charges entrepreneurs $6,000 to present to four groups in Washington, Oregon and Idaho.
I have an email into the local chapter of Keiretsu to get a response on the changes.
Meanwhile, via PEHub.com, here's Calcanis going off on the concept of angel investment groups charging entrepreneurs. He goes so far to say that the "Calcanis Nation" is going to "decimate" any groups that charge entrepreneurs.
