After striking a pessimistic tone over the weekend, T-Mobile today offered a glimmer of hope to Sidekick users who have been unable to access their address books and other data following a server failure at Microsoft subsidiary Danger, which provides the software and services for the device.
"Regarding those of you who have lost personal content, T-Mobile and Microsoft/Danger continue to do all we can to recover and return any lost information," the company says in an update posted late this afternoon. "Recent efforts indicate the prospects of recovering some lost content may now be possible. We will continue to keep you updated on this front; we know how important this is to you."
T-Mobile is promising a $100 "customer appreciation card" to anyone whose data can't be recovered, in addition to the month's worth of free data service already extended to Sidekick users.
