Microsoft pokes fun at pointless mobile apps, subtle jab at Apple |

Sure, Apple has more than 85,000 iPhone and iPod touch apps in its App Store, but how many of them are actually useful?
That seems to be the underlying message in this spoof video posted on YouTube today by Microsoft's Windows Mobile Dev team, even though it features fictional Microsoft lab staff, and Apple is never mentioned by name.
Microsoft is trying to drum up interest in its rival to the App store, dubbed Windows Marketplace for Mobile, which launched earlier this month in conjunction with the Windows Mobile 6.5 release.
The Redmond company has been focusing on the quality of apps rather than quantity -- telling mobile developers, for example, that they shouldn't quickly dismiss the notion of charging more than 99 cents for their apps. (Via TechCrunch.)
