Microsoft is consolidating its video search offerings under the Bing Videos label, allowing users to retrieve video content from MSN, Hulu, ABC, DailyMotion, YouTube and more than 300 other content partners. In a blog post about the change, the company said that the combination of Bing with MSN Video will "deliver a sophisticated online video offering."
Microsoft said more than 900 TV shows are now offered through Bing Videos. The company also unveiled a new feature that essentially allows users to dim the lights on the screen in order to maximize their viewing experience. The New Bing Videos offering was rolled out earlier today, and the service will become fully available on both Bing and MSN later this month.
The company explains the offering this way:
"Today, we are announcing a new version of Bing Videos that brings together the rich editorial content and programming of MSN Video with the web-wide breadth and great search capabilities of Bing, to deliver a new online video destination that offers a comprehensive and faster video experience. Bing Videos simplifies finding and watching the widest selection of premium and general video from around the Web."
And here's more from Rob Bennett, general manager of network programming at MSN. In the video below, Bennett said that customers have been asking for more longer-form TV shows over the past year. "We are bringing together a lot of video, both long-form and short-form, into a single experience for our users," he said.
