Kindle lands in Canada |

When Amazon announced last month it was taking its Kindle reader international, there were a few gaps in the global rollout, including Canada (a fact that spawned some semi-outraged headlines north of the border). That changed today as Amazon announced that Kindle is now shipping to customers in Canada.
What was the holdup? That's not entirely clear, though Amazon was reportedly shopping around among Canadian telecoms for a wireless partner. In the end, Amazon said AT&T, which provides 3G wireless for all the other international Kindles, is providing the same service in Canada.
As with Kindle users in other countries, Canadians will pay more for new release and bestselling digital books. Amazon will charge them U.S. $11.99 for such titles, $2 more than U.S. customers typically pay. The company said Canadian newspapers Globe & Mail and The National Post are available for download.
Amazon is taking its basic Kindle (the Kindle 2) international, but says it also plans to take its larger-screen Kindle DX global next year.
