Here's one for all you old-school PC nerds.
As we gear up for our big TechFlash Holiday Party and Birthday Bash, Dec. 9 in Seattle (tickets and details available here) we've been offering up brain teasers and puzzles to whet your appetite for the first-ever Seattle tech trivia contest that will take place during the party. Today's content comes from one of our favorite hidden tech spots, the computer history museum at the RE-PC computer store south of downtown Seattle.
Here's the question: Can you identify these two computers? The first person to respond with both correct answers to toddbishop@bizjournals.com will get a complimentary ticket.
To win, you'll need to name not only the computer maker but also the model and, if appropriate, the model number. Check back for the answers and the winner (assuming this doesn't completely stump everyone) later today.
For the Dec. 9 event, we have quite a few trivia teams signed up already, but slots are still available. But that's just one element of the night, so even if you're not a trivia geek, come out to enjoy the party. Go here to register for the party or for the trivia.
A big thanks to our initial sponsors for the TechFlash Holiday Party & Birthday Bash: Reaxion, BDO, Denali Advanced Integration and the Master of Business Administration program at The University of Washington, Bothell.
We're looking forward to seeing everyone the evening of Dec. 9.
Update, 3:45 p.m.: Wow, we've got some serious PC geeks out there. Lots of responses, and as many of you correctly guessed, the correct answers are the DEC Rainbow 100 and the Apple Lisa.
And we have a winner: TechFlash reader John Michael Gross, better known as JMG, submitted the first correct and complete answer via email. Several others also gave the correct answers, but JMG was first, even counting the folks in the comments below.
Honorable mention to Stephen Lawton, who spent seven years writing about DEC back in the day, and to Ed Wilkening, a RE-PC employee, both of whom had some obvious advantages on this one but were still beaten to the punch by JMG.
If you've never been to the RE-PC museum, it's free, and we highly recommend it. (It's one of the locations on the TechFlash Geek's Guide to Seattle.) Even if you didn't win the free ticket, we'd invite you to register to join us on Dec. 9. If you were good at this, you'd do well in the trivia.
And as a bonus, here are more photos of each computer.
