Bing logo: Better on a building?

The design of Microsoft's Bing logo was raked over the coals recently by the "Brand New" blog, which declared it the "No. 1 Worst Identity" of the past year, followed closely by the company's new MSN logo, which the site diagnosed with "Bing syndrome." The main criticism is the way the typography of both logos is stretched out horizontally.
But people in the Seattle region sure seem to like the way Bing looks on the side of a building. Which is to say, it's getting the attention of lots of technology geeks.
Granted, it's not a replica of the real logo. In fact, the Bing logo is much more vertically oriented on the office tower, as you'd expect. In any event, the Bing team has garnered its share of tweets over the holiday break for strategically lighting the offices inside its Bellevue HQ to spell out the Bing name.
It's not a bad way to capitalize on their central location for a bit of free advertising. And it's visible from quite a distance, as this video from Chris Pirillo shows. As Pirillo notes in the description on YouTube, it's a good thing they don't call it Windows Live Search anymore.
