Ignition invests in Fotonauts |

Bellevue-based Ignition Partners is among the investors in a $1.1 million venture round for Fotonauts, operator of the online photo encyclopedia known as Fotopedia. In the spirit of Wikipedia, the site encourages photographers to share images in categories such as nature, travel, news and the arts.
Here's a look at the Fotopedia entry for Seattle, which showcases the photos that have received the most votes from users. Those photos are displayed as an online slideshow, and can rotate based on the community feedback. The entries also include text from Wikipedia articles in order to provide more information beyond the images.
Those who submit photos are given a profile page on Fotopedia, with individuals able to follow other photographers or topics.
The funding was made public in a SEC filing today, with TechCrunch confirming the deal. According to the filing, Ignition's Brad Silverberg is serving as a director at the Cambridge, Mass.-based company.
