Introducing ... The Flashies |
Connect with TechFlash on our Facebook page for all the latest technology news headlines and commentary, plus information and access to special events, photos from events, promotions and more.
Today we're launching what we think will be an entertaining and interactive way of looking back at the past year in Seattle technology. The TechFlash Community Choice Awards -- better known as The Flashies -- is an online feature that will present the high and low points of 2009, grouped into a series of award categories.
Over the next couple weeks, we'll be rolling out one Flashies category per day, generally around noontime. At the bottom of each category, you'll be able to vote for one of the nominees in an online poll. Our first category: Top Microsoft Videos of 2009.
If one of your favorites isn't represented among our nominees, you'll be able to nominate it yourself as a write-in candidate in the comments. Other readers will then be able to support your nominee by clicking the "like" button next to it after logging in via Disqus, Facebook or Twitter. If any write-in nominees gain significant momentum, we'll hold a runoff vote in those categories.
We've come up with a long list of nominees in categories ranging from serious to fun -- including Startup Deal of the Year, Craziest Idea of the Year, and Celebrity Endorsement of the Year. But we're going to listen to your input and stay flexible on the direction of the Flashies as they unfold.
If you have any suggestions for categories and nominees, or anything else, send a message to techflashtips@bizjournals.com.
We'll announce all the Flashies winners in a roundup post around the end of the year. Thanks for reading, and we hope you enjoy this new feature.
