James Sun
Seattle Internet entrepreneur James Sun -- who is best known for his second place showing in season six of Donald Trump's "The Apprentice" -- is cooking up his own reality TV show in which he attempts to maximize the revenue potential of failing businesses across the globe. Sun -- one of the answers in last week's TechFlash pub trivia competition -- tells The Seattle Times that the new 13-episode show (a joint project of BBC and China's CCTV) is kind of like "Extreme Makeover" combined with "The Apprentice" and mixed in with a little bit of "Kitchen Nightmares."
The show -- titled "Sun Tzu War on Business" - is set to air in the U.S. on the National Geographic channel.
I've long felt that the entrepreneurial/startup process is tailored made for reality TV, especially in these tough economic times. You can kind of think of it like "Biggest Loser" for the economy. (Motivational stories to get people building and innovating again).
In fact, Ron Weiner of Earth Class Mail was featured in a program called "Startup Junkies" a few years back that was pretty entertaining viewing.
Sun continues to run the local Internet startup GeoPage, which inked a key partnership with CitySearch back in June. (In fact, Sun tells the Times in the video below that his appearance on "The Apprentice" helped seal the deal).
Here's the full profile of Sun from today's story by Marian Lu of the Seattle Times, which also features other reality TV stars from the region.
