LAS VEGAS -- Gearing up for the Consumer Electronics Show here, Microsoft today announced some of the packages and pricing for its Office 2010 programs, due out later this year. The lineup introduces a new $99 version that will be available to "qualifying" students and educators at campus stores and selected retailers.
The company also plans discounted prices for the "Product Key Cards" that people will be able to buy at electronics retailers to unlock versions of Office 2010 that will be pre-installed on some new computers. Some of the prices remain the same as for similar versions of the existing Office 2007, but the lineup also reflects an effort by Microsoft to appeal to budget-conscious households and small businesses.
Here are the packages announced this morning ...
Office Professional Academic: $99. Available to qualified students and educators. Comes with Word 2010, Excel 2010, PowerPoint 2010, OneNote 2010, Outlook 2010, Publisher 2010, Access 2010, and Office Web Apps.
Office Home and Student: $149 boxed, $119 Product Key Card. Word 2010, Excel 2010, PowerPoint 2010, OneNote 2010, and Office Web Apps. Available as family license, for use on up to three PCs in one house.
Office Home and Business: $279 boxed, $199 Product Key Card. Word 2010, Excel 2010, PowerPoint 2010, OneNote 2010, Outlook 2010, and Office Web Apps.
