LAS VEGAS -- Is it time for Jeff Bezos to give up the plastic bag? The folks at the M-Edge Accessories booth here at CES are dying to get one of their waterproof Kindle cases in the Amazon CEO's hands, after he told the New York Times that he uses a one-gallon Ziploc to keep his electronic reader from getting splashed in the tub.
The case uses plastic clasps to seal tightly, and strategically placed air compartments to make the Kindle float. Probably not something for everyday use, based on the extra weight it adds, but worth checking out if you're headed to the beach or the bathtub and aren't interested in the makeshift Bezos solution.
The company is showing Kindles submerged and floating in water at its booth, making it clear to passersby that it's no ordinary case. It's scheduled to be available later this year. Price not yet announced.
