If you're one of those folks who still can't figure out all of the TV and stereo remotes or tends to lose them under the couch, a new gadget from a Seattle area company might be for you. Power A, the consumer products division of Woodinville-based Bensussen Deutsch & Associates, today introduced the "Universal Remote Case" which essentially turns the iPhone into a remote for the TV, DVD, stereo, game consoles and more. In fact, the company claims that you can control up to 20 IR-capable devices.
The case -- with a suggested retail price of $59.99 -- works in conjunction with a free iPhone app which consumers can download from iTunes. (Interestingly, that app has been in the top 25 free apps in recent weeks even though you need the case for it to work).
"The POWER A Universal Remote Case was designed to give consumers an effortless way to control all of their devices directly from one of the most in-demand iPhone accessories – a two-piece protective case,” said Eric Bensussen, President of Power A, in a statement. “The sleek case is designed to stay on the phone at all times, eliminating the need to attach a supplementary dongle or be tied to a single docking cradle to use the remote."
Power A isn't the only company which thinks that American consumers have remote overload in the living room. At the Consumer Electronics Show last month, L5 introduced this device which works in conjunction with the iPhone.
