Mpire boosts Winfield, moves HQ

Mpire has moved into a larger headquarters building in downtown Seattle and promoted online ad veteran Kirby Winfield to the position of president. Winfield, a former exec at Marchex and Go2Net, had been serving as the company's chief revenue officer. He will continue to hold that title, but his promotion comes as the company ramps up efforts for its new online ad analytics service. The company also has named Ryan Polley as senior vice president of strategic development, a role in which the former exec at RealNetworks, Classmates Online and Dragon Media will forge new partnerships with analytics and media companies.
The company's new headquarters in Seattle is located in the Sterling Building at 1418 Third Avenue, a "green building" where Mpire will have more than 5,000 square feet of space. It also announced the opening of a new San Francisco office to house the company's West Coast sales team, adding to its existing sales office in New York.
Mpire -- which employed 18 people in January -- plans to ramp up hiring this year. Backed by Ignition Partners and Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Mpire has gone through a number of incarnations since it was founded in 2006. It is now squarely focused on a service called AdXpose is designed to help advertisers identify whether their online ads are showing up in the proper places. Winfield recently told TechFlash that the online ad analytics business represents a "$100 million plus opportunity" for Mpire.
Bill Bryant of Draper Fisher Jurvetson said in a release that Winfield deserves the promotion given his work at the company in recent months.
“Kirby Winfield has done a remarkable job of establishing AdXpose as the market leader in campaign verification, brand safety, and display analytics among advertisers, agencies and ad networks," said Bryant. "Operationally, he's managing a rapidly growing company that has exceeded its financial objectives."
