FiatLux Imaging -- a Redmond maker of medical imaging software -- has named Max Lyon as CEO. Lyon has served as president or CEO of six medical companies, including BioControl Systems, Bainbridge Sciences, CG Therapeutics Adeona Pharmaceuticals, NexCura and Confirma.

Vittana, the Seattle microlending Web site led by former Amazon employees Kushal Chakrabarti and Brett Witt, has introduced March Microfinance Madness. The new competition -- with participation from TechCrunch, Huffington Post, Facebook, Teachstreet, Duke, University of California and other technology startups and educational institutions -- is designed to lend money to college students in emerging countries. Trubion Pharmaceuticals posted revenue of $5.2 million for the fourth quarter in part due to a strategic partnership with Facet Biotech. Net loss for the quarter was $5.3 million and $29.2 million for the year. The Seattle biotech finished the year with $54.8 million in cash and cash equivalents.
Groupon has expanded its online group buying service to Tacoma, adding to the Seattle area where it has operated since last August and already counts 90,000 subscribers. Meanwhile, the founders of the Chicago startup announced today that they have launched a new venture fund called Lightbank in which they plan to invest $100,000 to $1 million in new companies. The goal is to invest up to $10 million each year in the Midwest.
Clearwire customers are utilizing about 7 GB of data per month, according to GigaOM, which the online publication calls a shocking amount of mobile data consumption. More here.
Magento, the Los Angeles-based e-commerce platform company, has raised $22.5 million in financing, according to TechCrunch which cited a regulatory filing. The deal follows news earlier this month that Madrona Venture Group had sunk $3 million into ShopIgniter, a Portland competitor to Magento.
