Zillow partners with John L. Scott
John L. Scott Real Estate will provide its for-sale listings to Zillow.com, the second Seattle area real estate company to seal a deal with the online real estate startup in the past seven months. As part of today's deal, John L. Scott -- the fourth largest real estate company in the country -- will syndicate about 15,000 for-sale listings through Zillow's Web site and iPhone application.
Last September, Windermere entered into a similar arrangement to provide listings to Zillow. To date, more than 800 real estate companies have posted listings through Zillow's automatic feed program. The company now boasts more than four million for-sale listings on the site.
"We constantly look for ways to maximize marketing exposure for our associates and listings," said John L. Scott, chairman of the company. "By distributing our listings to Zillow, we are able to expose our clients to Zillow's audience of nine million unique visitors each month. We believe this offers a tremendous marketing opportunity for our agents and their sellers."
Some real estate companies cast a wary eye on Zillow when it debuted more than four years ago, but it appears that a number of those which were once critical of the business are starting to come around. The fact that Zillow has grown into one of the largest online real estate companies probably plays a role in that turnaround.
